Kicking in a new environment

University of Minnesota kicker Luke Drzewiecki won the game with a 46-yard field goal on Saturday in the Gophers’ 13-10 win against the University of Iowa. The kick kept his perfect season alive and brought home Floyd of Rosedale for Minnesota.

This is nothing new for Drzewiecki.

“All you got to do is kick [the football],” Drzewiecki said. “Very simple job.”

Drzewiecki arrived at the University of Minnesota in late August. He transferred from the University of New Mexico, where he played f...

Gophers transfer receiver Noah Jennings makes immediate impact

University of Minnesota wide receiver Noah Jennings lined up near the six-yard line against the University of Akron on Sept. 19. He ran a slant route and caught a contested touchdown pass from quarterback Drake Lindsey.

This marked Jennings’ first touchdown in a Minnesota uniform.

Out of high school, Jennings was...

How to find happiness as a backup punter

The movement may be good for football, but not for McGrath, who came to the Gophers wanting to start, just like in high school. He soon realized the competition and culture were different. He also realized that the UMN football team wasn’t about individual rankings as much as the a team-first culture. Now a redshirt sophomore, McGrath rooms with starting punter Tom Weston from Perth, Australia. Cade Tyson sidelined while awaiting eligibility ruling

The Gophers men’s basketball team beat the University of Nebraska-Omaha 72-52 in an exhibition game Thursday, but one player was missing from the stat sheet.

Gophers defensive back Ayden West lined up in coverage on the right side of the field. Michigan quarterback Bryce Underwood snapped the ball and threw a pass five yards downfield. West bobbled the ball before catching it with a toe-tap interception.

The interception set up Gophers kicker Luke Drzeiwiecki for a 31-yard field goal to swing the momentum of the game.

“I just saw. I just trusted my coach. I trusted the D-line. I trusted what my eyes saw and the play was made,” West said.

Wucherer returns for her final season of Gopher Volleyball

Mckenna Wucherer is entering her last season with the University of Minnesota volleyball team. She dealt with a back injury for six games during the 2024 season, but the trauma lingered, forcing Wucherer to redshirt the 2025 season.

The team lost four starters to season-ending injuries in total and had to adjust rotations and bring in new players mid-October. Despite this, the Gophers had 1,526 kills last season.

The team finished with a 24-10 record and reached the NCAA tournament, where...
